HERE’S SOME MORE INFORMATION ON THE MOOD DISORDERS WE TYPICALLY TREAT

Anxiety are a very common condition that can be triggered by trauma, social situations, or simply manifest itself as a feeling of general unease and stress.

Experiencing a certain degree of anxiety is natural. But living with a constant or near-constant state of anxiety you feel unable to control, is destabilising and rarely corrects itself.

Under stress your body releases a hormone called cortisol to reduce the stressful feeling. Over time cortisol can weaken your immune system. Which is why treating anxiety generally improves your overall health as well as mental wellbeing and improves the quality of your life.

Social Anxiety stems from an intense fear of being judged or found lacking in social situations. Individuals suffering from social phobia avoid everyday “normal” social interaction like sharing making eye contact or even sharing meal with friends. All aspects of your life, not just the social, could start to fall apart. They may turn down a work promotion that requires frequent travel, or public speaking because they are afraid of embarrassing themselves.

Social phobia leads to intense anxiety and can trigger physical symptoms such as elevated heartbeat, nausea and perspiration. If left untreated, there is an increased risk of developing major depressive disorder and alcohol use disorders. Fortunately, effective evidence-based treatments are available.

Depression is a very common condition that can be triggered by traumatic events or appear for no reason, often involving a combination of biological and and socio-emotional factors. It can create feelings like loneliness, fear, guilt and worthlessness which affects how people think, feel and act.

Sadly, many people struggle with the condition on their own, for months or even years, before getting professional help. If you suspect you may be experiencing depression do get in touch with myself or another healthcare professional. Depression can be effectively treated, but only you can take the first step.
